How to Check Case Status and Next Hearing Date on eCourts

Every district court and High Court case in India has a public status page on the eCourts system: the stage, the last order and the next date. Here is how to find it in under a minute — and how to stop checking dozens of cases one by one.

District and taluka courts

  1. Open the eCourts services site (services.ecourts.gov.in) or the official eCourts Services app.
  2. Choose “Case Status”, then your State, District and Court Complex.
  3. Search by CNR number (fastest), case number and year, FIR number, party name, or advocate name.
  4. Open the case to see the next hearing date, stage, the judge, and orders you can download.

High Courts

Most High Courts publish case status on the eCourts High Court services site (hcservices.ecourts.gov.in) and on their own websites. Search by case type, number and year, or by party or advocate name. Some High Courts also show the daily cause list and a live display board.

What is a CNR number?

The Case Number Record (CNR) is a unique 16-character code for a district-court case — for example MPJB010012342024 (State + district + establishment code, a serial number and the year). It never changes, even if the case is transferred, which makes it the most reliable way to search.

If you are an advocate with many cases

Checking each case every evening does not scale. CaseLinx keeps all your matters in one digital case diary — next dates, clients, parties and documents — and can find your cases by your name as advocate, so you do not have to enter them one by one. You get the next day’s list and reminders instead of searching.

For High Court matters where you also need to know when your item will actually be called, see CourtQue.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my CNR number?

Search the case by party name, case number or FIR number on eCourts; the CNR is shown on the case status page. It is also printed on many orders and summons.

Why does eCourts show an old next date?

The date updates after the court records the day’s proceedings. If the date shown has passed and the case is pending, check the daily order or ask the court staff.

Can I check case status by advocate name?

Yes — eCourts supports search by advocate name for district courts. CaseLinx uses your name as advocate to bring all your cases into one diary.
